Wilmslow U9 Puma’s 1 – 2 AFC Urmston Meadowside U9
15th March 2008
Lindow School (Home)
Once again the Puma’s produced a spirited performance on Saturday, but again ended up losing a tight game by the odd goal.
The boys started well on the wide open spaces of Lindow and opened the scoring with a cracking goal from Frazer Wain on his return to the team. The home side kept things pretty tight at the back with the defensive three of Patrick Bescoby, High Gozem & Ryan Knight taking turns to support the attack whenever possible. Jake Turner was performing heroics between the posts on the occasions when Meadowside did break through, with one superb tip round the post worthy of special mention.
The second period saw something of a reversal and, after a great save from the visitors keeper from a rasping shot from Matt Boyle, Meadowside took the initiative and produced some good football which resulted in two quick goals to take the lead.
The final period was all too familiar with Pumas pushing for the equaliser and the visitors trying to increase their advantage on the break. With Harvey Kerr performing heroics at the back to keep things tight and Melle Meulensteen & Ed Lawton constantly pushing forward the home side came close on a few occasions, however Meadowside held out to complete a league double over the Pumas.
