Wilmslow Colts 4 – Stretford Vics 2

Colts had a fully fit and determined squad for the match with Stretford Vics. They demonstrated their determination when in the opening minutes Tom S crossed a superb ball into the box which found Joe Walker who coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net for his first goal for the Colts 1-0

Skilful play continued with great tackles and attacks on goal. The boys were rewarded with goal number 2 when Joppe on the wing skilfully crossed a ball over which came off Tom O’s head to find James S who drilled the ball into the low corner of the net 2.0

Some fine saves by James in goal kept the score line in the Colts favour but the Colts were continually on the attack this half and played some great football, all of the boys contributing .They were rewarded for their efforts when a corner from Tom S found Joe W and the game was suddenly in the Colts favour at 3.0

Half time 3-0

Opening minutes saw Gregor pass to Joe and onto Elliot Cooke who whacked the ball into the bottom left hand corner much to the dismay of his mother who after driving 3 hours from their Scottish retreat found herself still in the Loo’s at half time and missed the goal !!! 4.0

This goal seemed to give the opposition a wake up call and suddenly the pressure was on the boys and defence were put to the test but the back four worked well together showing some great tackles and skill, however, halfway through this half Curtis had to make some great saves and also had to pick the ball up out of the back of the net twice 4-2

Play continued Jake came on and got a feel for the game and the pressure was on with Stretford Vics anxious to change the score line again, Elliot C, Elliot W, all made some great passes and clearances and James, Tom S and Tom O, Joppe and Gregor tried to find goal. When on the attack the Stretford Vic lads did give us some anxious moments but Sean, Kristian, Adam and Will were solid at the back and Curtis was confident in goal. However, the boys handled the pressure and continued battling hard for more goals running for every ball until the final whistle.

Great game to watch and enjoyed by all except of course the mums that missed their son’s goals!!!!
